Alright, Who Wants to Party?

So, as you may or may not know, I am a new Modbe Fashion Consultant. They sell clothing that is very cute and in fashion while still being modest. You can only buy their clothes online or through an in-home boutique/open house. I haven't done a boutique yet, and I need someone to be my guinea pig. I don't want to host my own open house as I just had a shoe party. So, who is not afraid to step up to the plate and host a Modbe boutique? You earn free and discounted clothes---what is there not to like about that. Also, if you book a boutique in October, November or December, you will be entered to win a $250.00 shopping spree. They just came out with their latest True Rise Jeans for the fall. They are super cute -- they come up higher in the front to keep the "mama belly" at bay and don't come down too low in the back --- all while giving the appearance of low rise. Let me know if anyone is interested.

The School Boy aka The Worry Wort

I'm excited to report that the master of the universe aka Bowen (I often refer to him as the master as he runs the show around here) has started Preschool. It has been heaven sent for both him and me. He has a lot of anxiety and worry over things, so I was a bit worried about how he would handle the school thing. (I have no idea why he worries about everything, it's not like I'm a worry wort -- ha, ha.). He is so excited about going to school and doing all his homework and "projects." His new scissors are a prized possession. It's very cute to see him so excited about learning.

Holy cow, do we look professional or what?

My Cute Students

This last week has been a bit of a blur, because I have been so busy. My students' piano recital was last Saturday, which took quite a bit of my time in preparation. However, it was a success. They all did really great under all the pressure. My sister Katie and I played a song together, which was a lot of fun. Isn't this a cute little clan.

What's Your Emergency?

Bowen successfully completed two phone calls to 911 yesterday. The first time we heard a woman talking in the other room and Bowen was talking back. We went out and Justin's cell was on speaker phone, Justin grabbed the phone and the woman told him it was 911. He did it again later on in the day. Justin's cell phone keypad was locked, so being the genius that he is, he figured out some method of dialing 911 while the keypad is locked. The emergency system is not too happy with us!

A New Hobby

Bowen and I have been developing a new hobby---painting. I wanted to learn how to paint with oils, and this is my first finished product. I know I'm bragging a bit (oops!), but I did want to show off what my efforts have produced. This will go in Bowen's room; he is very excited. I let Bowen paint with some little acrylics, and Justin kind of freaked out (you know, makes a big, not so good mess). Probably not the best idea, but he had so much fun painting just like mom.

Confident Nudity

Bowen is very comfortable and confident in his birthday suit. The other day Justin gave him a bath while I was doing some work on the computer. After his bath, Bowen came into the office all wrapped up in his towel. He came over by me and exclaimed, "Well, here I am!" After his confident exclaimation he dropped his towel and stood there smiling with a chest puffed out and hands on his waist. Where does he come up with this stuff?!?!?!

Shoe Party!!!

I am having another party, surprise, surprise. I love hosting parties, because it's so fun to get together and eat and cackle. I am having a shoe party on Tuesday September 23 from 6:30 til 8:00 p.m. It is open-house style and is, of course, going to be a lot of fun! So, everyone and anyone is invited. Please come!

A Blonde Moment

So, one good thing about blogging is that you have a forum to make fun of yourself and everyone can laugh at you. Also, in the spirit of service, I would like to help others who have done dumb things feel better about themselves. Some of you may have heard this story, others may have not. If not, well, enjoy!

I had a pampered chef party a couple of months ago. I work in Draper on Thursday and Fridays and planned on dropping my cousin Amy's stuff off on my way to work, as she lives kind of on the way to Draper. So, you must understand my mind-set as I was in a bit of a hurry to get to work. (I am habitually late to things--I think I need medication, oh wait, I'm already on medication.) Anywho, I pulled into her driveway and ran up to the door. Suddenly I heard this garage door noise and thought someone was opening the garage door. I looked over at my car and saw that it had driven itself into her garage door! I can still say that I've never been behind the wheel in a car accident. After all, the Audi did drive itself into the garage door. Well, I obviously had forgotten to put my car in park. This is not a good thing to forget. It is very important to put your car in park before you get out. I couldn't have picked a better garage door to crash into. My sweet cousin Amy made me feel much better about the situation (thank heaven's she's normal!). She even tried to pay for half of the garage, which would make sense, because after all, she was partially to blame for ordering pampered chef at my party. Well, I got a bonus at work (heaven sent) which paid for a new garage door for Amy. I do what I can to help people out. I was in fear for my life when I had to break the news to Justin. I was driving the new car. Luckily, the Audi aka Justin's baby got out of it with only a small scratch. Thank goodness for heavy German automobiles! He didn't kill me, just banned my to an eternity of driving the hud mobile aka hudadiah aka the Honda that will NEVER die. Actually, not true, Justin still drives hudadiah and lets me drive the Audi--not sure if I should be allowed behind the wheel EVER, but . . .

Feel free to now embarrass yourself in this public forum with other blonde moments.

Also, not the actual photo, but it helps create the proper imagery. It also proves that I'm not the only one who has done this!

What is that Smell???

This morning when we got up, Justin put some music from his ipod on. Bowen was standing on the stool and I started singing and dancing with him. He wrinkled his nose and said, "Mama, what is that smell?" I immediately knew it was my nasty morning breath he was smelling. I told him, "It's mama's breath. Sorry." He started crying and said, "I didn't want to smell it." What can I say, I have dragon breath!

Crash Landing

I thought I would post this video because I think it's hilarious and maybe someone else can enjoy it. Justin went flying with his friend who recently got his pilot's license. This is a recording of the landing, and I don't know if this is normal-----but it seemed pretty rocky! I pee my pants everytime I watch it. Who knows, I'm probably really weird and maybe I have a sick sense of humor, but hey, I thought it was really funny.

Justin's Toy

A few months ago, Justin asked me if he could get a rifle. I said okay, as I was thinking of some sort of shot-gun looking thing---I don't know much about guns. Well, little did I know he got the civilian version of the M16. It looks pretty bad. I don't get it, apparently it's a guy thing. However, he went shooting with the boys last time we visited Idaho, and I think they all had a good time. You can tell by all the laughing!

Woman Survives Camping Trip

Anyone who knows me knows I'm not much of a camper. Well, for the first time in our marriage, I went camping---and I survived! We went to Lava Hot Springs with Justin's family, and although I had fun, I still don't think camping is my idea of fun. I mean, what if I just feel like going inside? What am I supposed to do? I was good and did not complain much, though. The only words of complaint were on the second night when I was being wind dusted and rained on. I think I muttered the words, "camping is heinous." No, but really it was fun to spend time with the fam, even in the great outdoors. Bowen definitely had a blast. He was a fish in the water, much to his father's relief---I'm not much of a water person. The highlight for him was definitely the train tracks right next to our campsite! (No hard feelings, Jolene.) It was worth all the noise nearly every hour to see the excitement on Bowen's face every time a train came by. He had a great time playing with everyone, especially "magic grandpa" and "cousin Lydi".
